They have visited France thanks to the open competition organized by the Department for Science, Technologies, & Space of the Embassy of the French Republic to Russia. In late December 2011, the two students studied the French phonetics and grammar at the CIEL School; they made friends with a lot of students from most different countries, and Normandy’s severe climate has become familiar to them.
Elvina: “I’ve been surprised to learn that every Sunday is the Family Day in Normandy. Relatives come to see each other and cook traditional dishes. I’m happy that once I was invited to such a party. As for my studies at the CIEL School, I liked their creative approach to studies. My most difficult home assignment was to make a reportage about the Russian football. And I’ve been surprised to find out that French people know our footballer Arshavin”.
Tatyana: “I’ve seen so many sights there - the Botanical Garden, the Océanopolis Park, and, of course, the world-famous Mont Saint-Michel Abbey. I’ve made so many friends from so many countries, and there’s no language barrier for me now! I advise everyone to take part in such competitions”.
Tatyana and Elvina would like to thank their mentors - Dr. Alfiya Salkhenova, Professor Vladimir Pilipenko, and Professor Elena Kondratenko - for their marvelous teaching and for their support of their trip to France.
